Self Portrait

This is based on the June Sketch on the 123 Scrapbook website, and also takes inspiration from the "dusty old book pages" Mystical 26 challenge on the Mystical Scrapbooks website. I have an old poetry book that I got from a secondhand bookstore, specifically to use its pages in my LOs. This page is about sailing on a ship, so I thought it was perfect to scrap these photos I took while on a cruise in Scandinavia. I've also used Cosmo Cricket and Kaiser PP, ribbon and some netting stuff, Heidi Grace letters, and felt and chipboard circle both from challenge packs. I'm preferential to flowery, girly LOs, so not quite sure if I like this yet!

ATCs

Did these today at Kelsey's credit card ATC class at Scraptivate. Still not sure if I like my "Wink" one, but I'm pretty happy with the "Day-dreamer" one. Think this would be a lovely technique to make a pendant too! Might give that a go in the next couple of days... Anyway, in "Wink", I've used the credit card for top left and bottom right corners, lots of paint, gauze stuck down with gel medium, Collections heart, and swipes of Micaceous Iron Oxide paint as well as pewter Rub and Buff. On the "Day-dreamer" one, it's Jo Sonja's Hooker Green paint, as well as copper Rub and Buff and Florentine Treasure Gold, with a strip of German scraps at the bottom and brads to hold the credit card window in place. Such a cool technique - now to convince my friends to give me their old cards!

I'm a Big Kid!

This LO is based on this month's Aussie Scrapjacked LO. It's a bit simpler than my usual LO, but given the strong patterns and the colour scheme that I've used, I thought adding anything else to the page would be overwhelming. I've used Love Elsie and KI Memories papers, an index card from Officeworks, and letters from a $2 shop! Photo is of myself being the big kid that I am :)

On Cloud 9

This LO is based on the "Pictionary" challenge at Mystical Scrapbooks - use the sketch, doodling and use an embellishment for a word/letter in the title. My embellishment is the cloud. I've carried the pattern of the paper into my doodling on the bottom 1/3 of the page, hoping that it would be reminiscent of the henna paintings on the bride's hands. Not sure if I'm happy with my doodling, so covered some of it up with the row of flowers! The cloud fabric paper is Love Elsie and the sticker letters are Bo Bunny. The PP and flowers are from a sale packet where everything was unlabelled, so not sure what brand they are. Brads are Craft Affair.

Yet another Recipe Scrap

Well, I was at the Forever Always website playing along again tonight, and what fun it was! Very simple LO, which is great because it lends itself to a double page! I'm a Sunday school teacher and these photos were taken at last year's Easter Camp for our 5-12 yo kids. The journalling says it all: "All of you look so angelic, but when the games started, we were a little shocked to discover how competitive you could get! Despite a few tantrums and whiny moments, you all ended up having heaps of fun though!" Embellishments all from a $2 shop! Page 2 will have "Camp" at the bottom to complete the title :)

The Greatest Gift

With my scraps from the "Love Endures Forever" LO, decided to make this page about a different sort of love. This page is 8X8" and will go into a mini book I'm making of my favourite Bible verses/hymns. Am keeping this book simple, with attention on the verses/hymn words and photos. These photos were taken at the Via Dolorosa (Way of Sorrows), one of the Stations of the Cross in Jerusalem, Israel. PP are Teresa Collins again, rubon letters are Making Memories and ribbon slide is Christina Re. Was about to add some rhinestones, but decided to exercise some restraint for once!

Sorry this pic is a bit blurry, but I think you get the idea. This LO is also inspired by a Forever Always word - "Forever". Very simple LO, using only Teresa Collins PP, Making Memories rubon letters, Stamp It and Kaiser rhinestones, and a little red Collections heart. Love B&W for weddings!

Celebrating Christmas with the Family

One of Forever Always' words for June is "celebrate". I've used the word "celebrating" instead of the root word "celebrate", but I think (hope!) this is OK. These photos were taken at Xmas 2006, and it's about time I scrapped them! I've used KI Memories and K&Co PP, Daisy D's letter stickers, Stamp-It typewriter letters, Bella chipboard stickers and German Scraps.

Johnston Canyon

This LO was based on sketch 2 for the month of the June on the Mystical Scrapbooks website - loved this sketch! I've used Heidi Swapp clear snowflakes and C Imaginations snowflake stickers topped with buttons for embellishments at bottom right, and hand-cut brackets from AMM border stickers. Paper and ice candy are KI Memories. Letters and mug of hot chocolate in between photos are Sandylion stickers. Have added extra journalling on the right side of the page. Am pleased that I'm slowly getting through my photos taken on a trip to Canada in 2004!

Five Random Facts About Me

Forever Always is celebrating their 5th birthday, so one of their word inspirations for the month was the number 5. These 5 photos of myself were taken by holding my camera at arm's length. Like that I'm off centre in most, and the "5" challenge was perfect to scrap them! Have made it as 5 inspired as possible, with 5 words in title, 5 buttons, 5 rhinestones (Icons), 5 pieces of German scraps, 5 rub-ons (MME), 5 pieces of chipboard ("ME" is Forever in Time and flowers are K&Co), and 5 bits of journalling. Unfortunately, couldn't fit in 5 pieces of PP - have used M Memories and SRPC (number "5" cut out). Also used my Dymo.

Forever Always Forever Family

There's a Family mini book challenge over at Forever Always right now, so I decided to repurpose a binder for mine. The photos show the front cover and the inside. The first was to rip the plastic off the chipboard pieces of the binder. Then I've used Basic Grey PP to cover both inside and outside. Where the metal bit is, I painted it instead (too difficult to cover!). Have used German scraps to hide the joins. Small letters are stamped, and large letters Lil Davis. Bird is Collections and covered with some scraps from my stash. Flowers are Prima, brads are K&Co and 7Gypsies. And the "My Memories" in top right is actually the brand name cut off from a sheet of paper, then mounted on chipboard. If you look very carefully, you can see the "TM"! I've also used ribbon to cover the spine of the binder, but can only see a little bit of it.

Parc Guell Part 2

This LO was based on Forever Always' midmonth sketch. This was similar enough to their 1st sketch of the month that I thought it would be fun to turn them into a double LO! So this is the matching page to my "Parc Guell". As I'd already journalled on my previous page, I placed photos where the circle embellishments and journalling spot were supposed to go. Added the owls to tie the 2 pages together. Same materials used - KI Mem and SRPC paper, Glitz owls, letters from Craft Affair and Riot art store. It was heaps of fun to challenge myself to turn 2 different sketches into 1 double page spread :)

Fairytale Romance

This LO is based on the current 52 Weeks sketch. The photos are of 2 friends who met quite by chance on a holiday to Vietnam and are now happily married.

Parc Guell

I've been wanting for scrap these photos for some time, and the June sketch on the Forever Always website was perfect for them because of the circles and the playful nature of the sketch. I actually turned the sketch 90 degrees to the right though, as I wanted to use a landscape photo instead of a portrait one. Where the circles were on the sketch, I printed out photos of ceiling mosaics at Parc Guell and cut them out, which means that I actually have used 6 photos on this LO - love multi-photo LOs! :) The only thing I'd change is perhaps I should have printed my journalling strips instead of handwriting. Thought handwriting would go with the playful feel of the LO, but when it was all stuck down, I realised I didn't like my writing, lol!

Mastercard Inspired

This LO is based on Sketch 89 on the Pencil Lines website, except that I rotated the sketch 90 degrees. Have used one of my favourite colour combos - pink/green, with splashes of white and red. The photo is of 2 great friends of mine when we had lunch/coffee together one day. Title reads "Priceless", but the full journalling up top reads "Coffee - $5, lunch - $15, spending time with 2 great FRIENDS - Pricelesss". To keep with the theme, I also cut the barcode off the bottom of a piece of PP and stuck it beneath the picture.

Bridal Party

I recently learned how to make pinwheel flowers! This LO was based on the 1st June sketch on the Mystical Scrapbooks website. I'm planning to reverse the sketch and make another page in B&W for the "Groomsmen" page! I've used Webster's Pages PP as well as PP from a mini-book kit I got off ebay (I think it's Amy Butler, which would make it K&Co, but the papers were in scraps and unlabelled). Embellished with buttons, German scrap, K&Co glittery chipboard letters and K&Co journalling tag.

Savouring the Recipe Scraps!

So joined in the Forever Always Thurday night Chat and Scrap tonight. If this page looks familiar, that's because I decided to make the matching page to my "Ponder, Dream" LO from the sketch challenge of the recent Cybercrop. This recipe really was simple but effective, but I think I might print a 3rd small photo and stick it in the bottom right when I can be bothered...looks a bit unbalanced at the moment I think! I've used CI and EK Success papers, TH ticket, Lil Davis and CI letters, Bo Bunny ribbons and buttons. Didn't like my hand-drawn stitching (one of the steps in the recipe), so covered it with ribbon, lol!

The Lord is My Shepherd

Often when I'm travelling, I take photos that remind me of certain Bible verses or Christian songs. Have been wanting to make a mini book of favourite verses/songs for ages, but never got around to it. But then made a white tile album with Vivian Bonder on the weekend and thought the white, pure look of it was perfect for this purpose! I also wanted to keep it simple and muted, so the first Cybercrop challenge on Forever Always forum for June seemed to fit what I had in mind - muted colours, lace/fabric and an old book page. I decided to start with Psalm 23, and for a while, considered tearing the relevant page out from an old Bible! Then decided it was sacreligious (?spelling), so ended up using a page from an old poetry book that I'd bought at a 2nd hand bookstore specifically for scrapbooking! Other than that, it's just a bit of lace at the bottom of the page, K&C0 journalling tag, and Heidi Grace letters. Simple! :)

Paper piecing

I learned this technique of piecing together paper (mounted on chipboard) houses with grass and a sun at a recent card-making class, and thought it would be perfect for these photos I took of homes I wished to live in when I was in the west coast of Canada. Very simple, but I quite like the look. I've used papers by SRPC, KI Memories, SFL, Sandylion and cheap index cards available from Officeworks. Felt door and cloud, German scrap smoke from chimney, H Swapp and Kaiser flowers for sun, Kaiser brad, and finally Bo Bunny letter stickers.

Forever Always Cybercrop - Recipe Scrap

I LOVED this recipe! Had so much fun with it, and it was so easy too. We had to stamp on the photo first, then layered 4 pieces of PP (I used Christian Re, Terese Collins, My Memories and K&W) and a cardstock ring (I cut mine out of Bo Bunny paper). Then, stuck the photo on, and added the title on the ring (KI Memories stickers and smaller letters were stamped onto c/s). Embellished with 3 flower/brads (I used Bazzill and Heidi Swapp flowers with Kaiser brads), as well as 4 cut-out flowers. This was supposed to be stamped, but I was too lazy to dig out my flower stamps, so ended up cutting flower shapes from Urban Lilypaper. I finished with Kaiser rhinestones on the photo.

Down South

Scrapdragon's challenge #18 is all about scraplifting one of the DT member's previous LOs. I chose to scraplift Vee's LO from challenge #4 (the first LO on this post). My LO turned out a bit differently, but the basic idea is still there - multiple photos off to the left hand side, journalling and flourishes to the bottom right. I replaced the "07" with a flower, and instead of having the other flourish to the right of the photos, I had part of my title going down the page.

Such a simple LO but so effective! I think I'll use this sketch again in the future, as I love scrapping multiple photos on a page :)

2nd layout for night 2 of Forever Always Cybercrop

This challenge required us to mix our own cocktail and come up with our own recipe for our LO. I chose my favourite cocktail, the mojito!

Ingredients:
-mint = green (OK, so there's minimal mint in the LO, but it's there!)
-lime juice = yellow
-light rum and/or club soda = clear to clear and light brown, so I interpreted as = transparency + light brown as 3rd colour
-sugar = whitish/glittery element of some sort = I've used Stickles glitter glue sparingly to highlight a few of the shapes on my LO

Forever Always Cybercrop Sketch Challenge

This was a great challenge - we had to:
1. Follow a sketch
2. Use either cream, dk brown and light brown colour scheme (mudslide cocktail), red/orange/white (tequila sunrise) or white/green/orange (Harvey wallbanger)
3. Use 3 of either ribbon, buttons, doodling, hearts and a transparency

I've been doing lots of brights lately, so decided to go with the browns. Was lucky enough to find this Daisy D's paper that already had part of my title on it, as well as a button! Didn't want to clutter the page too much, so just chose ribbon and doodled round the edge of my page as my 2 other chosen embellishments.

My first ever Cybercrop!

Decided to join in the June Cybercrop on the Forever Always forum. The first challenge was in homage to the movie "Cocktails", with a choice of completing a "Bryan Brown" or "Tom Cruise" layout. I picked the "Tom Cruise" one - criteria of bright colours, stars and doodling.

One Fine (Winter) Day

I've been wanting to scrap the photos from my trip to western side of Canada since 2004! Slowly getting round to them...getting sick of the blue/white/gray colours, so decided to think outside the box with this predominantly yellow and green layout. Bit of a messy, random feel with this, but I thought it fit the topic of snow.

Angry Mob

Journalling around the photo reads "Francine, Duy and Yen modelling their souvenir aprons purchased in Madrid (utensils not included - these were the property of the serviced apartment that we stayed in). I have mixed feelings about Seville...on the one hand, a beautiful city...on the other hand, we saw more of flyovers and Carrefour than anything else! This was also the place where Yen and I got nasty gastro from 1 day old paella or chicken!" I think this says it all!

Lost in this Moment

This LO took me 2 hours to complete, but I am very happy with it as it incorporates all of my favourite things - bright colours including my favourite colour, pink, crowded layout with multiple layers, lots of bling, flowers and texture, and it's also about one of my best friends! :)

My first ever Forever Always Recipe Scrap!

Well, I was late as I assumed the Recipe Scrap would start at 7.30pm WA TIME! But managed to finish by 10pm WA time regardless. Realised at the end I'd got it a bit wrong (journalling and bottom circle/embellishment wrong way round), but never mind - I think it works the way it is. Was a bit wary about the doodling at first as I don't do this often, but when I'd finished, I agreed that it probably did finish off the LO.
